1. General information
Biosanitary and scientific-technical information sources aims to provide students with the knowledge, skills and attitudes necessary to identify, evaluate and retrieve information as efficiently as possible from specialized information sources and resources in the biosanitary and scientific-technical fields.
It is taught as an optional subject in the third or fourth year of the degree, and it is a complementary subject to others such as Bibliographic Management and General Information Sources, by adding theoretical-practical knowledge belonging to specialized and complex information fields.
Its goals, aligned with the Sustainable Development Goals, make the acquisition of learning results, provide training and competence in:

2. Learning results
- Identifies, knows and values the most important sources of information used both in the health sciences area and in the scientific-technical area.
- Is efficient in the use of the various information search tools in the health sciences and scientific and technical areas.
- Design and develop search strategies appropriate to the complexity of the information need based on the different databases and information sources.
- Correctly handles the controlled languages (thesauri, lists of subject headings, etc.) used in these information sources.
- Provides the information retrieved in different formats (databases, text files, etc.) using appropriate tools such as bibliographic managers (RefWorks, Zotero, etc.).

- Evaluation of scientific-technical information sources
4. Academic activities
Overall methodology of the learning process and learning activities offered to the student to help him/her achieve the expected results:
- Theoretical classes. Development of theoretical and practical contents.
- Practical assistance classes. Presentation, resolution and discussion of cases between teacher and students.
- Autonomous work. Elaboration of an individual work. Consisting in the realization of a research report on a subject related to the specialties object of the subject
- Autonomous work. Analysis and study of a topic based on the bibliography
5. Assessment system
FIRST CALL
Continuous assessment system
- Development and execution of information search exercises in the practical classes throughout the subject. Valuation : 50% of the final grade.
- Individual work of bibliographic compilation on a topic related to the specialized areas of work, to be chosen by the student and under the supervision of the teacher. Criteria: adequacy of content and use of specific terminology. Valuation: 50% of the final grade.
In order to average the two activities, it will be necessary to obtain a minimum score of 5 in each of them.
Global assessment test
1. Theoretical-practical exam on the contents of the year in which the student must demonstrate that he/she has obtained the competencies to be developed in the subject. Valuation: 50% of the final grade.
2. Individual work of bibliographic compilation on a specific topic related to the specialized areas of work, at chosen by the student and under the supervision of the teacher. Criteria: adequacy of content and use of specific terminology.
Valuation: 50% of the final grade.
In order to average the two activities, it will be necessary to obtain a minimum score of 5 in each of them.
SECOND CALL
Global assessment test: identical to that of the first call.
